The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) is hosting its three-day International Poetry Festival 2009 titled 'Greeshmam' or summer to bring together poets from across Bahrain. Today children will present famous Malayalam poems, tomorrow at 8pm there will be international poetry where selections of important works from different periods and schools of languages will be showcased. On the last day more than 16 poets will recite their own work. The lingua franca for the festival is English. Poems presented in other languages will be translated. The event will be inaugurated by FM Radio104.2 director, P Unnikrishnan.

Poets participating include Hameed Qaed, Ali Al Jalawi, Fatima Mahsin, Mylene Paredes, Sadiq Shad and Raju Iringal. Those interested in taking part can contact BKS literary wing secretary Benny Daniel on 39812111.

Circus Orange will be at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, Sanabis today and tomorrow from 6pm to 8.30pm. Tickets are priced at BD3 for A level entries and 500 fils for B level entries and are available in Seef Mall and Bahrain City Centre.

Thursday (July 30)

Aqua Fuego Lounge, located on the 3rd floor of Marine Tower, off the Al Fateh Highway, Manama, will host its exclusive Moksh event from 9pm to 2am before relocating to a new undisclosed venue. Moksh will feature a mix of Indian bhangra, R&B and funky house courtesy of DJ Chico, the official DJ for India's Premier League (IPL).

Musicians from the creative arts group Elham will be taking part in the ongoing Seef Zain Carnival at the UrFilez sponsored stage in the new wing of Seef Mall. Alternative rock band Silverlake will perform today from 7pm to 8.30pm. Contemporary Oud player Hasan Al Hujairi and acoustics blues performer Faisa Sheikh (from The Tryout) will perform on August 6 and 7 from 7pm to 8.30pm. For details email elhambahrain@yahoo.com

Sunday (August 2)

As part of the Bahrain Summer Festival the Nakhool Tent is in place at the Hillat Abd Al Saleh Village in Seef featuring live competitions for kids with the Sa'adon Children Music Band, children's and family cinema daily, educational and artistic workshops on drawing and colouring on pots, 'Draw Nakhool' daily competition for children between eight and 12, and other daily competitions, scrap booking classes and design of cards, book marks and photo frames for children and youths aged 10 to 18 and a puppet show El Laylah El Kbeera.
