A spy movie with a Disney twist, G-Force follows the escapades of a team of specially trained, highly skilled Guinea Pigs who have save the world from haywire conventional devises like toasters and mircrowaves amidst struggling to be taken seriously by the FBI.
Nerdy scientist Dr Ben Kendall (Zach Galifianakis) recruits three Guinea Pigs and turns them into a crack team of highly trained secret agents. Using advanced technology and incredible gadgets that allows them to talk to humans, Darwin (Sam Rockwell), Juarez (Penelope Cruz) and Blaster (Tracy Morgan) are not to be underestimated.
Aided by a remarkably intelligent, computer hacking mole called Speckles (Nicolas Cage), the fuzzy friends break in to the headquarters of business tycoon Leonard Saber (Bill Nighy) believing he is involved in a plan to destroy the world. When their efforts appear to be less than successful, the group must go on the run from the FBI but end up imprisoned in a pet store.
It is here that they meet a laid back Guinea pig called Hurley (Jon Favreau) and a brilliantly funny, slightly crazed, and definitely overly territorial hamster called Bucky (Steve Buscemi).
Darwin and his team have to find a way to escape and stop Saber from carrying out his evil plot. However, as the squeaky secret agents get closer to revealing the truth behind his schemes, they discover things are not always as they seem.
Although this is obviously a children's movie there are scenes that adults can appreciate, namely some rather clever pop-culture references to films like Die Hard and Scarface that will go completely over the kids heads but provide a giggle for parents.
The graphics are almost as impressive as the cast and this film beautifully merges live actors with animation of epic proportions. The G-Force team are fearless, courageous and, since it is a Disney film after all, inspirational.
There's a poignant undertone to G-Force, reminding us all that it's not who you are, but what you do that makes you special.
