DETERMINED mother Rebecca Jones will be filing an appeal for custody of her 10-year-old son Adam in the Qatari courts on Sunday in the latest round of legal action to reunite her family in Bahrain, writes Asma Salman.

This afternoon she is hoping to visit the St Christopher's School pupil again after winning visitation rights at a hearing last week.

She was only allowed to see Adam after police intervened to force the family of her late ex-husband to let her inside their home in Qatar.

"We were allowed to meet up for three hours and it was very traumatic," she said. "Adam is now aware of what is going on and asked me 'is this like Madeleine McCann?' (referring to the three-year-old who was abducted whilst on holiday in Portugal). We used to watch the television news of her disappearance together. He asked me whether he could jump over the walls and come home with me.

"At the moment it feels like Adam is being held like a prisoner and is totally isolated. I will fight to the end to bring him back to Bahrain."

British expat Rebecca, her husband Barrie and daughter, Alex, would like to thank GulfWeekly readers who have signed last week's P1 petition calling for Adam to be allowed back home and have left messages on our website.

The petition will be delivered to 10 Downing Street urging the authorities to support the family and copies will also be sent to the Embassy of Qatar in Bahrain.

Rebecca says she was tricked into signing legal papers which allowed her late ex-husband's elderly mother to win custody of Adam.
