Outsider Blue's Bass Billy scored a six-length victory over favourite Addwaitya on Friday to win the HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, Crown Prince and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for locally bred horses.

This was one of the biggest races of the horse racing calendar in Bahrain and jockey Gerald Avranche steered the outsider to an easy win at the races in Sakhir to claim a cash prize of BD7,000.

Kami was third, five lengths behind Addwaitya, while Bobs Ver Uncle finished fourth another two-and-a-half-lengths adrift.

But favourite Rabdaan 1343, owned by Al Sakhir, trained by Fadhel Al Asfoor and ridden by Mohammed Saeed, lived up to expectations to claim the HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Arabian horses which carried a cash prize of BD3,500.

The favourite beat Al Jellabieh 1310 by one-and-half-a-length while Rabdaan 1133 was third fourth lengths behind and Al Musannah 1269 fourth, 14 lengths behind.

There was an upset in the race for Bahrain Oaks Cup, sponsored by Al Muzdaher Farm, as jockey Ali Al Saffar steered Mawhouba, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and trained by James Naylor, to a two-length victory over Happy Vally to win this race for locally bred horses which carried a cash prize of BD5,500.

Dalia finished a length behind Happy Vally to claim third place while Sahab was fourth another one-and-a-half-length adrift.

Bahrain National Guard commander Major General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa presented trophies to the winners.
