Gulf Weekly Splashtacular fun for families

GULFWEEKLY'S family of readers enjoyed a great fun day out dipping and splashing around the attractions at Bahrain's top leisure destination - Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park (LPOD).

They had taken advantage of our special 'two-for-the-price-of-one' Splashtacular promotion on Friday and saved handsomely on the price of ticket prices by using tokens featured on the front page over the past four issues.

Regular readers cut out and kept them along with visitors to the island. One Saudi businessmen was so delighted with the offer he bought bundles of Bahrain's number one community newspaper so that he could bring his wife and children along for the event.

The Bhatia family from Tashan who were looking out for activities during a school break joined up with six other families to spend an enjoyable day out at the park. Amina Bhatia who went with her husband Vinay and sons Mir, 12, and Ansh, 10, said: "We make it a point to go to visit LPOD at least once every year - it is a great place to be and this year the timing of the offer has been absolutely perfect.

"I am constantly looking out for interesting activities for our children whose school is closed before the new term starts in April. So, seven families from our compound got together and we collected coupons from our weekly copies of GulfWeekly and other friends who were not going. My family alone saved BD28 and this was spent on the food we had from the restaurants within the park."

LPOD regulars Derek Wales and his family from Saar added: "It is a fantastic water park and a great space to have fun in a safe and well managed environment.

"We go at least four to five times every year and it is one of our favourite family destinations for my wife Nicole and our children Michael, who is four, and one-year-old Sam."

LPOD, located in Al Areen, is one of the first leisure attractions in the Middle East to be awarded the highest possible standard for health and safety. The facility is spread around 77,000 square metres and is the largest stand-alone water park in the Middle East.

Paul Blunt, general manager of the park, said: "The Lost Paradise is a haven for people to come and enjoy themselves whether based in Bahrain or outside in the GCC. To have a fun time in a water park this size in complete safety, is only ever possible if standards are set in place to the highest possible levels and then maintained at all times."

Attractions of LPOD include Dive-In Movies, Ladies Nights, Live DJs and annual membership passes. It is open daily from 11am to 6pm in March and April, closing on Tuesdays, with the exception of school and public holidays.

A day full of fun costs guests over 1.2m in height BD14; while guests under 1.2m pay BD5.
