Sailing sensation Sami Al Kooheji will be hosting a charity event 'Sail Sami Fund Raising Night' in aid of Think Pink at the Bahrain Yacht Club on June 3.
The event begins at 7pm and will have a Hawaiian casual theme with a barbecue and dancing.
Sami said: "I've always been keen to support different charities, including breast cancer awareness. A few years ago I lost an aunt to breast cancer and I realised how many people's lives have been affected by this particular cancer.
"I have followed the progress that Think Pink has made in Bahrain over the years and wanted to come on board to help them reach their goals, as well as promoting breast cancer awareness in Bahrain.
"I hope that my support will also bring the work that Think Pink and other similar charities do in this area to the attention of a wider audience."
He explained that he hoped to raise up to BD3,000 at the event. Sami made a comeback to sailing in February announcing the 2010 Air Arabia Sailing Adventure with a bid to represent Bahrain and compete in this year's Asian Games to be held in November in China.
At the event Think Pink will officially announce Sami as their new 'good will' ambassador and one of his main sponsors, BMI Bank, will unveil his new sponsor-branded Laser sail boat which he will be using for the 2010 Air Arabia Sailing Adventure Campaign.
Sami said: "Without the help of my campaign sponsors Air Arabia, BMI Bank and Audi Bahrain and the event sponsors we wouldn't have been able to put this event on so I am very grateful to everybody for their help and support."
Through the event Sami, ambassador for the Sail Bahrain Project created by Team Pindar, is also aiming to promote sailing in Bahrain. Sami is currently participating in a series of events before the Games. He recently won the GCC Cup in Abu Dhabi. He is set to take part in his first regatta of the campaign in Italy at Riva on Lake Garda in the 2010 Expert Olympic Regatta.
