Wednesday (June 2) Albareh Art Gallery will host the opening of '7 Days in Kerala' art exhibition featuring four Bahrain-based artists at 7pm. The exhibition will be held until June 16.

Participating artists include Suzie Baker, Rehana Gardiner, Christine Hawath and Seana Mallen. In February last year, they travelled to Kerala, India for a week. Inspired by the sights, sounds, colours and textures of the state, each artist returned to their studios in Bahrain with hundreds of sketches, preliminary studies and photographs and set to work in different ways and mediums.

The CinŽ-club of Alliance Franaise Bahrain will display a movie at its premises in Isa Town - Bled Number One. This 2005 French-Algerian movie is directed and starred by Rabah Ameur-Zaimeche, Meriem Serbah and Abel Jafri. The movie begins at 7.30pm. For details contact 17683295.

A Bharathanatyam Arangetram dance programme will take place at the Indian Club in Manama at 8.30pm. The event is the debut on-stage performance of students learning the traditional Indian dance form, Bharatanatyam. Chief guest of the event will be Ajay Kumar, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy and the guests of honour will be Khalifa Shaheen, managing director of KSDI and Unnikrishnan, director of Radio Voice. The performances of Jovita, Navya, Sanchana, Surthi and Swetha under the guidance of teacher Hansul Gani, will be staged. For details contact 39168712.

The British School of Bahrain-Hamala will be holding a 'Charity Market Day' from 12pm to 8pm at its premises. The event will feature Tasneem Photography, Mine Furniture and Moments of Life. The Pearl Community will hold a charity event at the Muju poolside at The Dragon Hotel in Amwaj. Entertainment will be provided by local DJs from 1pm - 8pm including Craig Brown, Sami Dee, Salime, Ricardo, Karim Miknas, David Hayes and Damien DeCosta.

Tickets are BD10 each and money collected will be donated to the Bahrain Mobility, Friendship Society for the Blind and the Bahrain Deaf Society.

Artist Dalia will showcase her work at the World Beat CafŽ in Budaiya at 4pm and will continue until July 8. She enjoys experimenting with various medium, materials and textures as well as with different themes and styles varying from abstract, figures, landscapes and still life. Her most recent work was on Jerusalem, a series of more than 20 paintings that portray the normal everyday activities that the Palestinians undertake such as going to the vegetable market, picking olives, walking in the alleys. She has participated in various exhibitions including the Garden Show with the Awali Arts Group, Art House which was organised by the Culture Vultures and the Women for Jerusalem Society Fund Raiser event. Artist Shahnaz Fayaz is holding her third solo exhibition at the Cappuccino on Saar Road throughout this month. Her collection will feature water colour paintings inspired by Bahrain. For details contact 36673954.

Monday (June 7)

A collective exhibition titled 'Jumble' until June 31 at the Al Riwaq Art Space in Adliya. It will focus on experimental art works created by upcoming and emerging artists from Bahrain.

The show's aim is to encourage youth creativity and to provide artists with a space to display their work. Participating artists include Ahmed Anan, Nader Abdulrahim, Mohammed Sharkawi, Waheeda Malullah, Rashid Al Oraifi, Salman Al Najem, Ahmed Al Mannai, Khadeja Al A'ali, Nour Al Alawi, Fatima Juma, Sara Kanoo, Ibrahim Azzam, Mahmood Al Shargawi, Mohammed Hussain Al Mahdi, Kanwal Tariq, Jenan Al Maskati and Yousra Al Banna. Tuesday (June 8)

The Alliance Franaise of Bahrain will host a joint exhibition titled 'Life in a cup?' featuring the works of artists Moosa Silwadi, Bruno Campagnie, Ali Al Saeed, Fadel Al Shobaki and Sonia Moretti. The exhibition will be a mixture of paintings, installations, photography and creative writing on a common theme based on coffee traditions.
