FOOTBALL fans across the nation have been voicing their World Cup joys and woes in a special touring booth run by telecom company Batelco.

Two mikes, two chairs and an open platform to analyse team selections, mourn missed chances and slam refereeing decisions have all been recorded in a 'Debate the Game' booth touring across Bahrain.

Bahrainis, expats of numerous nationalities - men, women and even little toddlers - have been getting on board and making the campaign a truly unique one.

"Scenes of ecstasy, anger, sarcasm, joy, despair and even pure magic have been witnessed," a Batelco spokesman said. "Adults jumping like kids, friends becoming rivals, high decibel levels of emotions, smiles and even tears - that's football and that's 'Debate the Game' in a nutshell. What they say is true then, when the 90 minutes end, the real match begins."

Hussain Amir, a debater after one of the matches, added: "I'm so excited. I have always wanted to share my views with the world on the sport I have loved since I was six years old and now I can."

The initiative is not stopping at Bahrain's borders. Videos of the debates are being uploaded daily on the Batelco group on Facebook and Youtube and on the company's website.
