Euro Motors, the exclusive importer of BMW Group cars in Bahrain, has announced a four per cent increase in sales for BMW and MINI cars during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.

The BMW 5 Series was the top selling model with an increase of 84 per cent. Launched in March this year, the 5 Series is a core product for BMW and combines sporting design, excellent comfort, the highest standard in efficiency in its class and sets the benchmark in driving dynamics and safety having recently achieved five stars in the Euro NCAP vehicle safety assessment programme.

Also contributing to the strong performance was the BMW X5, a popular model, which grew 23 per cent, followed by the flagship BMW 7 Series and BMW 3 Series. In addition, sales of MINI were up 18 per cent in the first six months of the year.

Commenting on the success, Paul Yates, general manager at Euro Motors, said: "We are very pleased with these sales results, which come on the back of a hectic six months for BMW. We had six new model launches in the first six months of the year, so it's been a busy and successful start to the year.

"Growth of four per cent is testament to the hard work of our sales staff and the trust placed in Euro Motors by customers in Bahrain."

Across the region, the BMW Group completed the first six months of 2010 with a 13 per cent growth in sales over the same period in 2009.
