Art Select in collaboration with The Courtyard Bahrain will stage an art exhibition called Reflections - a Ramadan Retrospective at the Al Ghazal Ballroom, Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa, highlighting 'prayer, peace and pictures'. Charitable institutions such as the Alia Centre for Autism will receive donations from the art sales. The Centrepoint Desert Symphony will take place on the first day of Eid in September at the Indian School grounds in Isa Town. It will feature performance by Sri Lankan choreographer Chandana Wickramasinghe's Sri Lankan Dancers Guild, as well as award winning Indian pop music diva Usha Uthup, Tamil play-back singer Mano, vocalist Anwar Sadath and finalists from the Asianet reality show Idea Star Singer Hisham Abdulwahab and Lekshmi Jayan. Alliance Francaise Bahrain will host the works of GrŽgory Lasserre and Ana•s van den Ancxt at an interactive art exhibition named 'Akousmaflore & Ombres' that will be open from September 7 to October 31 in Isa Town. The Batelco Melodic Meet will be held on September 24 at the Indian School grounds in Isa Town. Organised by the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) in association with the Kerala Arts and Cultural Association (KACA), the event will feature performances by vocalists Mohammad Aslam, Faride and Sindhu Menon, mimicry specialists Baiju Jose and Babu Jose and film star Monica from India. Tickets cost BD1 and will be doubled up as raffle tickets to win a Mitsubishi Lancer and 20 other prizes.

Albareh Art Gallery will present the latest works in an exhibition titled 'Painting Illusion' of Egyptian artist Hazem Taha at the CafŽ from September 26 to October 16.

Filmmakers from around the region will showcase their work at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) from October 26 to 30 at Katara, the Cultural Village in Doha. The festival will have three categories including the Arab Film Competition, World Panorama and the Arab Short Film Competition. It is looking to discover talent from across the region for a chance to premiere their film to a large international audience.

Internationally-acclaimed Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad will serve as President of the Jury and will preside over DTFF's Arab Film Competition awarding prizes for Best Arab Film and Best Arab Filmmaker.

In addition to the Arab Film Competition, the festival will also feature two audience awards, one for Best Narrative Film and the other for Best Documentary Film. The Prerana Society will hold a film screening of 'The Violin' on October 12 at the Kannada Sangha Auditorium at 8pm. The film was written and directed by Mexican director Francisco Vargas. Set amid the mountains of the southern Pacific Coast State of Guerrero, Mexico, tells the story of a near-primordial struggle between the haves and the have-nots. For the three generations of one indigenous family who travel to small, dusty towns, playing their music for coins, the struggle is written on their unsmiling faces and in their plaintive, haunting songs.
