WHAT a heart-warming story in last week's GulfWeekly about gold medal winning Olympian Ahmed Akbar Shafiee. His family and friends must be very proud of his achievements and it just goes to show how sport can provide such a boost in self-esteem and help someone develop their true potential.

I will certainly be one shopper looking out for Procter & Gamble Gulf products on the shelves if it helps raise funds to take disabled athletes from the region to the world summer games in Athens.

Well done to all those concerned.

Ali M,

Riffa.

WHAT'S happening at Bahrain's cinemas? We seem to be missing out of all the new releases and before they get shown in the cinema here they're already on their way to winning an Oscar!

It's funny how you can buy illegal copies of the Black Swan and the King's Voice in local stores and souks but you cannot enjoy the big screen movie experience.

These two top films have been showing for weeks around the world. Come on Bahrain, get your act together!

There was once a time we got the big releases before anyone-else!

Frustrated film-lover,

WITH ref to the Adam Jones case. Mrs Jones was doing an excellent job raising her child Adam. The Qatari family appears to be hurting Adam emotionally by holding him in Qatar and keeping him away from a mother whom he spent 10 amazing years with. Adam was a happy child and very active at school - he was a classmate of my child. I hope that his suffering will end in 2011 and he will be reunited with his mother.

Reem Mitri,
