A BD20 silver bracelet – adorned with an enamelled Think Pink ribbon and fl agged on both sides by two pink zircon stones – is the latest fashion sensation from a leading Bahraini jewellery house to help promote the breast cancer awareness campaign.
The stones represent the latest mission in Think Pink Bahrain’s current campaign to ‘light the way’ and spread the message of education and awareness across the kingdom.
Al Zain Jewellery continued its support for the initiative by designing, producing and retailing the specially-designed ‘hope bracelet’. All profi ts from the sales of the bracelets – BD10 for every bracelet sold – will be donated to Think Pink Bahrain for the purchase of a vital BD880,000 digital Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine for the Salmaniya Medical Complex.
Noora Al Zain, 22, a Leeds University graduate in graphic and communication design, has recently returned home from the UK to work in her family business and is heading the marketing campaign for the Think Pink bracelet. She said: “I had heard about the charity from my mother and after I met the ladies who work for the charity I fell in love with what they do ... they are very inspiring and hard-working.
“We are very excited about the bracelet and hope to raise even more money than last year, which was around BD2,000. “We are also hoping that the hope bracelets will become iconic in the community. It feels like the right charity to be helping as Arab women can contract breast cancer 10 years before their Western counterparts.
Every time you look at the bracelet it can serve as a reminder to check yourself and avoid further complications.” The major difference from the past designs is the change in metal from gold – white, yellow and rose, to silver, owing to the record prices that gold has reached in recent times. Offi cials also said that profit margins are low when the cost of gold is high.
Noora said: “Making a bracelet in silver helps us to make it more accessible and affordable. It now costs BD20 as opposed to BD100 last year and makes an ideal gift for sisters, wives, girlfriends, daughters and mothers, to show that you care. “It is very elegant, feminine and fashionable, as silver goes with everything. We are very passionate about this initiative and hope to sell as many bracelets as we can because the more we sell the higher our donation to the cause.
“We are tapping into our elite client database and speaking to the public about it. We hope to inspire people to support Think Pink Bahrain and the MRI funding campaign.”
Al Zain has been supporting Think Pink for the past three years. The bracelet will be sold all year long at all its outlets in dedicated display cases. Sales representatives will also attend all Think Pink Bahrain charity events.
