International DJ Stevie George can be found spinning tunes on the decks all over Bahrain.
There are mixed emotions being felt around the sporting world this week – England (both football and rugby) never failing to disappoint, offset by an abundance of joy in France, Wales, Australia and New Zealand.
Germany cheering on Vettel to his deserved back-to-back World Formula 1 crowns, Britain celebrating wins for Jenson Button and Andy Murray over the weekend – and Tommy Hill winning the British Superbike Championship beating his rival John Hopkins by just 0.006 of a second on the very final race of the season. If you tried to write that into a fiction novel nobody would believe you.
We all know that questions will be asked about the failings of the English rugby team (I blame the effeminate lycra jerseys – bring back the cotton!), why the English football team played in blue instead of white in Montenegro (yes, I know, let’s boost shirt sales) and will Lewis Hamilton look in the mirror next time he shaves?
Of course, people will now be emailing and texting me the reasons, but my point is sport produces such mixed emotions not only from the supporters but the participants as well.
So let’s put together a mixture of songs reflecting the highs and lows we all feel at some point:
Emotions – Best Of My Love
Oasis – Don’t Look Back In Anger
U2 – Desire
Alexis Jordan – Happiness
Tomcraft – Loneliness
Madness – Embarrassment
King – Love And Pride
Maze – Joy And Pain
Blue Pearl – (Can You) Feel The Passion
Ian Dury – Reasons To Be Cheerful
Here’s hoping you all have a safe and happy week, and once again I’ll leave you with a final thought – “Never be afraid to try something new - remember, amateurs built the ark BUT professionals built the Titanic!”
