A slew of show jumping events will be staged this Friday at the Dilmun Stables, Twin Palms Riding Centre/ Al Jazira Stables.
The Dilmun will host the second of its competitive league events. As usual there will be the green horse/rider class to start off the day – as previously reported this is an excellent class for beginners or riders getting back into the saddle after the long summer months – a gentle round.
However, the horse/rider combinations in this competition are only allowed a total of three clear rounds before they must move up into the league competition.
This week, hopefully, should see the return of some of the missing established riders if their injuries have healed. If not this week, I am sure we will soon see Kat, Hamad and Sharon reappearing with a winning mission in mind.
The afternoon event is scheduled to start at 5pm, though I have been advised it may be earlier this week. So please check with the Dilmun Stables before taking your pew to spectate. The organisers can be contacted on 17693766.
The event will continue with the Junior and Adult 1 classes and finish with the Junior and Adult 2 class, usually a speed class which is always an edge-of-seat experience.
Twin Palms Riding Centre and Al Jazira Stables also forge into action this weekend. Although it was suggested we might see a gentle start to the season, however, no one has witnessed Anki Holmstrom’s course design as yet! Gentle to Anki is not always quite what one would expect.
Friday’s show is scheduled for a 9am start, however, this will be dependent on a decision made later today.
The recent wonderful weather decided to revert to being temperamental lately with some extreme humidity making a comeback. Let’s hope it has had its moment now and can retire for the winter! However, if the humidity and heat prevail it will be an afternoon event that starts off the season for Twin Palms.
So, once again, I would suggest a quick phone call to the stable before arriving to watch the show, which is, of course, open to all supporters and spectators. Call 39566809 for more details.
The event will start with a Training Class – open to all junior and adult riders. It is aimed at allowing riders to gain confidence and experience. There will be varied trotting poles into small fences, bounce fences, turns, combinations and doubles – something for everyone!
Following this will be a Clear Round Class and the final class will be a Mixed Junior/Adult one, traditionally one round with jump-off. This will be the only class of the day where points accumulated will be put to the new league and the fences will vary in height, with a possibility of a choice over some of the higher fences allowing the younger, or more nervous, riders an alternative option.
The whole day will surely be a fantastic introduction to the new season. Once again, good luck to all participants.
