How come the photograph on the front page of last week’s GulfWeekly of the mighty McLaren MP4 - 12C considered by motoring enthusiasts to be ‘the national car of Bahrain’ has a Saudi number plate? You guys are pits! BB, by email.
Editor’s note: Simple really, the test car came from Saudi Arabia! If you had read the story you would have found that there is only one car already on the road in Bahrain and eight more due to be delivered in the next few weeks. Funnily enough, those will have Bahrain number plates and it is a fact that the kingdom has a big stake in the company making this majestic sports car.
The BKS Photography Club will hold a photography exhibition on March 8 with the theme ‘Beautiful Bahrain’. Fifty images will be selected for the exhibition from the entries received from various photographers residing in the kingdom.
A photography workshop will follow on March 9 for the BKS and the BKS Photography Club members and March 10 for the general public at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam premises in Segaiya. For this purpose, the club will be bringing in Anil Kumar, an acclaimed South Indian photographer to conduct the workshops.
Mr Kumar, who has been in the field for more than 25 years and has a clientele of some of the biggest business names in India, has conducted numerous workshops for all levels of aspiring photographers. The workshop will cover basic and advanced composition techniques, lighting techniques, utilisation of the light and studio and still life photography.
Participants will have a chance to explore and refine their talent for developing lighting and composition techniques through an interactive session with the photographer.
This workshop is open to all mid-level and professional photographers.

I’M not sure what the locals will think of it but the British Club of Bahrain is to present a special screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show on Thursday, February 16.
It’s the 1975 film adaptation of the British rock-musical stageplay, The Rocky Horror Show, written by Richard O’Brien. The film is a parody of B-movie, science fiction and horror films.
The Brit Club’s new committee says dressing up as Dr Frank-N-Furter – a self-proclaimed ‘sweet transvestite’ from Transsexual, Transylvania, who claims to have discovered the ‘secret to life itself’ – and the other characters, is ‘mandatory’. The show starts at 8pm in the Windsor Room and is free to members and BD2 for guests.
Let’s hope they are all practising the time warp! However, if you happen to be a rocky horror virgin, please ensure you follow these rules when it comes to wearing suitable attire:
*Suits, these are worn only by people who thought they were booking for Phantom of the Opera or Chicago. *Do not wear anything that may be damaged by the following; water, rice and occasional naked flames. *Sandals or anoraks. *Sweatshirts with stripes.
One die-hard fan and friend of the Whisperer said performing casts of fans act out the movie in front of the screen simply ‘for the love of Rocky’. For a banker, he looks remarkably good in stockings, basque and high heels.
