Gulf Weekly Three-legged mutt is in the doghouse!

PITIFUL three-legged mutt Peggy landed in a lovely, comfortable home … only to come a cropper by falling off a sofa and breaking one of her surviving limbs.

She has had the difficult task of hopping about on two legs using her tail as a balancing rod as the broken bone is set in plaster.

The courageous canine had to overcome all kinds of adversity before becoming a beloved member of the Potter household in Saar.

She was found on a beach feverish, emaciated, anaemic and covered in muck and ticks and was nursed back to health by the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Peggy was offered a home by Brits Rupert and Juliette Potter and their children Henry, 14, and Lauren, seven.

Unfortunately, just when things were looking up for Peggy, the sofa calamity occurred. Mrs Potter, 42, a nurse and first-aid instructor, explained: “We heard a loud yelp and ran to the living room. It was obvious she had broken her leg. We were devastated and rushed her to the vet.

“When we took her home she was still groggy and had a cast put on it. I kept wondering how she would manage.

“I put my mattress on the floor near her bed and barely slept a wink. Then sometime in the middle of the night she jumped up on her two legs and started hopping around the room. I was completely amazed. Her zest for life and strength in adversity are an inspiration.”
