Gulf Weekly Pathak seals impressive Brit Club win

THE British Club 1664 team stormed off to a winning start in the fourth season of the Bahrain Expat League on Monday evening with a stunning 2-0 victory over highly-fancied Jurassic Juniors.

According to British Club’s striker Raj Pahuja, his team found it difficult to penetrate Jurassic Juniors six-man defence which led to a scrappy first-half with both sides being reduced to long-range efforts.

Pahuja said: 'The only flowing move of the first half saw the giant Brit Club goalkeeper Serwin Rampersad feed the ball to centre-half Leigh Withers who then played a lovely through ball to captain Dave Good.'

Shortly afterwards, a slide-rule pass landed perfectly on the boot of the club’s wing-wizard Eric Sandretto who finished the move off with a shot into the bottom right corner of the Jurassic net.

The second half began in much the same vein, until the second goal settled matters through striker Sanjeev Pathak who outpaced two defenders before slotting home.

This evening, Arabian Celts B will take on BNP team followed by Jurassic Juniors playing Oak FC at the British School of Bahrain.

*In the Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Under-12 League Galali beat Bahrain Club 4-1 and ASSB and Riffa Club battled out a tense scoreless draw. Next week Riffa Club will be hosting the four competing teams with Galali playing Riffa Club and ASSB taking on Bahrain Club.
