Two new Lexus models, the GS350 sedan and LX570 SUV, were launched at a ceremony in Sitra this week.
The launch by E K Kanoo, the brand’s distributor, took place in the presence of Toyota and Lexus officials and the media.
Toyota and Lexus brand manager Ayman Shehadeh said: “Today we are witnessing the Lexus brand taking a huge step forward. The new GS is not only a totally new model from Lexus, it symbolises the new face of Lexus. It has everything you thought it didn’t have. I invite everyone to come and see for themselves.”
The GS350 is equipped with a 3.5-litre engine and is available in basic, luxury and F Sport.
One of the most noteworthy features is that the car has four driving modes, which can be adjusted to suit your needs. For example, when ECO drive mode is selected, engine power, throttle and air conditioning are controlled automatically to enable driving that prioritises fuel economy.
On Sport S+ mode a more aggressive driving is enforced by improved handling stability and tougher suspension.
The exterior design is more bold, aggressive and distinctive than ever before and the interior has been designed to create a space that evokes a sense of excitement and luxury, its makers say.
The front seats can be adjusted to a staggering 18 positions to ensure whoever is in the driver’s seat enjoys a comfortable drive.
The cockpit houses a 12.3-inch display and LED lights which are used to create a sophisticated interior ambience.
If you’re looking for an off-roading vehicle with flair, you need look no further than the LX570, says Lexus.
This bulking SUV promises rugged capability with finely- crafted luxury. It boasts a newly-designed exterior, improved interior design and advanced off-road technology.
EK Kanoo executive general manager of sales Ismail Akbar said: “Since its launch in 2007, the LX570 has seen a steady increase in sales in Bahrain due to the deep understanding of our customers’ needs. With the new LX, Lexus has advanced and refined this vehicle, making it a symbol of SUVs through its dynamic styling and unparalleled driving performance. “Lexus LX570 is one of the most successful models we have, and we expect this model to win everyone’s affection due to its superior design.”
Underneath the LX570’s robust styling resides a rough-and-ready, body-on-frame truck platform designed for serious off-road duty.
It is powered by a 362-horsepower 5.7-litre engine connected to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features include 20-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, leather upholstery, keyless ignition/entry, four-zone climate control, a rear camera and Bluetooth.
It also boasts a world-first feature shared with the new Toyota Land Cruiser, Turn Assist. This new system enhances turning ability and minimises the driver’s effort in tight U-turns by applying the brake on the inside rear wheel.
As with the GS350, the interior of the LX570 can be customised from the colour scheme to right down to the fine finishing.
The GS350 starts from BD23,500 and the LX750 starts from BD39,000.
