Sico’s Classic victory

Sico clinched the Championship title after the three-day 15th American Mission Hospital (AMH) Island Classic Charity Golf Tournament concluded at His Majesty King Hamad’s private golf course in Safriya.

Second place went to Deeko Bahrain and third to the Ministry of Interior.

The Premiership title was clinched by Contax Products, followed by Swiss Food Speciaties in second and Chevron third.
The Gulf Weekly team managed to walk away with Friday’s longest putt prize – 23ft – for Editor Stan Szecowka and David Axtell took the nearest the pin prize on the 220-yard par 3, as well as the par 3 shootout contest.

Speaking at the end of the tournament, AMH CEO Dr George Cheriyan said: ìIt gave me great pleasure to give out the awards and to have the opportunity to thank His Majesty, King Hamad for his generosity in allowing the golf tournament to take place on his private golf course.

Event organiser Bahnaz Abbas, the hospital’s marketing and development manager, added:  "I would like to thank the golfers for their participation during these three days.
 
"Though the weather was a bit rough at times for golf, it was a delight to see the players in action, particularly their sportsmanship which helped make the setting of the event competitive but fun at the same time.

"I would also like to thank the volunteers and helpers who have willingly given their support in a broad range of ways. Last, but not least, thanks to His Majesty’s golf course staff for maintaining an exceptional course throughout the tournament."
