After hard but joyful collective work in
the spirit of friendship and goodness, it is now time for us to donate, as
promised, some of our proceedings to people in need.
This year we have organised two major
events, the International Family Fair and the Spring Market. Part of the money
we raised goes towards improving our school facilities and the other part goes
to local charities.
The cheque will be handed over today by The
Friends of the BSB at Cafe Ceramique. We have invited parents from the BSB
(British School of Bahrain) to join us for this occasion. We will also work
together to create a collage of tiles that we will use as an artistic frame for
a plaque identifying our playground equipment as something donated by the
Friends of BSB!

Excellent GulfWeekly coverage of the F1,
specifically the teams and drivers guide – it was very helpful. I actually
carried it around with me at the circuit – thanks for that!

I was interested to read in last week’s
GulfWeekly that the winner of the Eruditely Esquires coffee quiz was won by a
visitor to Bahrain who could not claim his prize, but it didn’t say where he is
from.
B Smiley, Saar.
Editor’s note: We published Taha Ercoskun’s
name online at www.gulfweekly.com as requested so he could share his moment of
fame with his friends. The 16-year-old is from Ankara, Turkey.
I’M finding it very sad driving past Saar
village every morning taking my child to St Christopher’s School and seeing the
paint splashed walls and black soot of burned tyres on the road.
Is there nothing we could do as an expat
community to work with our neighbours and help them enhance their surroundings?
I was thinking of rallying together some
artists and like-minded friends to work with local youths. Graffiti need not be
abusive – it can be invigorating and exciting.
Saddened expat,
Janabiyah.
