It’s been 20 years since the final episode of the TV show Dallas was aired, but now the Ewing family drama is all set to return to prime time.
Dallas is an American soap opera that revolves around the Ewings, a wealthy Texas family in the oil and cattle-ranching industries.
The classic soap was launched in 1978 and the show left on a cliffhanger after one of the main characters, JR Ewing, had lost everything and everyone, slowly turned a pistol on himself … and cue to credits.
Luckily, fans of the show, which will be part of the TNT network, will be happy to know that it is a continuation of the original series rather than a reboot so they can finally find out what happened to JR.
Original cast members Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray are also returning to the city of Southfork along with a new generation of Ewings.
Production assistant Drew Weininger said anyone that was a fan of the original series or loves the drama associated with character-driven shows are going to like Dallas. “The show is fantastic,” he said. “We are all excited for it.”
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre added: “We’re especially thrilled to work so closely with the leaders of Dallas in making the city a key character in the show.”
The drama series’ famous rivalries between characters and love triangles will add fuel to the seemingly constant tension on the ranch. The original series was mainly filmed in Los Angeles, but this time around the film crew will actually be shooting in Dallas.
