The Whisperer

An acquaintance of The Whisperer, who recently moved to Bahrain from the UK, experienced one of those special moments driving around the kingdom.

On approaching a roundabout she spotted a car suddenly stop and begin to reverse to the turning they had just missed.

She told me: “My reaction first involved a lot of hand gestures and loud words in my car as I failed to comprehend why anyone would drive backwards round a roundabout?

“Its main function is to allow you to go around it as many times as you like! It’s the only place you can be confident about missing your turning and still have 100 per cent certainty that you will pass it again (provided you didn’t actually take the wrong exit). And yet this person had pulled over and waited till a convenient time to make this manoeuvre. Apparently, the convenient time was on my approach which is again questionable.”

Welcome to Bahrain.
