Summer relaxation

Summer is in full swing now, with the rising temperature and plentiful sunshine acting as good indicators that the time has come to bring out the towels and soak up some sun.
Most of my friends spend their time at compound pools, by the seaside or at one of the many hotel resorts dotted around Bahrain.

It has been a long time since I had the opportunity to spend an entire day by the seaside, or a poolside, so I jumped at the chance to go to Coral Bay Beach Club for an afternoon.

In between relaxing by the cool water and tanning, visitors rent jet skis and socialise with other guests.

As much as teenagers may complain about meeting deadlines and keeping up with homework, being able to sit around a pool and just do nothing for one blissful day gives us enough incentive to let it become a reward.

As a big fan of literature, one of my favourite pastimes involves picking a novel by Virginia Woolf or Jodi Picoult and settling down to a morning of reading by the pool. On hotter days this proves a challenge, but having lived in the heat for so long, I have become better at withstanding the harsh Bahraini summers each year – and this definitely does not become an issue when you have an empty schedule to keep you relaxed.
