ABC has ordered a pilot episode from director Joss Whedon, who is in the process of making a new spin-off television series to his summer hit, The Avengers, entitled S.H.I.E.L.D.
The director is no stranger to television having steered the wheel for Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the science fiction series Firefly. Whedon reassured The Avengers devotees that it ‘will please Marvel fans’.
Whedon said: “The S.H.I.E.L.D. show kind of dropped in my lap ... What we’re building is entirely autonomous from The Avengers. It’s gotta be a show that works for people who haven’t seen the Marvel movies.”
