Anne Hathaway recently hosted the comedy skit show Saturday Night Live where the actress skewered Claire Danes in a spoof of the hit show Homeland.
However, Hathaway was apparently so nervous she would offend Oscar-winning Danes that she reached out and apologised.
Danes, 33, said: “I’m friends with Anne, and she sent me a lot of texts beforehand that say, ‘Oh God, I hope we’ll be friends afterwards.”
However, Hathaway had reason to be anxious. The skit featured Hathaway in a blonde wig impersonating Danes’ Homeland character, the bipolar CIA officer Carrie Mathieson. The portrait centred on the grimace that Danes employs frequently on the show, including a ‘chin wobble’ and a contorted expression which one character described as ‘like her whole face is chewing gum’. Danes said: “Anne sent me a very large bouquet of flowers, so I’m assuming it was not the most flattering description.”
Saturday Night Live airs every Sunday at 10pm on OSN Comedy HD and Homeland airs on Tuesdays at 11pm.
