GIRLS Aloud singer Cheryl Cole is in talks to return to The X Factor USA, despite her turbulent past relationship with the show according to a new report.
The New York Post claims Cole is in negotiations with producers about returning to the judging panel for the show’s upcoming third season.
Cole was originally fired from the show after just weeks of filming following claims US viewers were unable to understand her broad regional accent. The Geordie singer previously dismissed the possibility of returning and even filed a $2.3m lawsuit against executives following her dismissal.
However, the reports allege that her return to the show could come as part of a settlement and suggest that the new panel could feature Simon Cowell and three women.
The uncertainty about the show’s judging panel comes after LA Reid and Britney Spears confirmed that they will not be returning next season.
Singer Ne-Yo has revealed that he is in talks to appear on the judging panel, while mentor Demi Lovato has tipped Lady GaGa as a possible replacement for Spears.
Meanwhile, the show’s hosting line-up is also facing a revamp. It is alleged Khloe Kardashian will not be asked to return following criticism of her presenting skills.
