PEUGEOT’S 301 aims to showcase the French marque’s global appeal and highlight a desire to conquer new markets.

The new model has been specifcally designed to appeal to a wide customer base, demanding and attracted by ‘three-compartment’ saloons which are both affordable and offer status, its makers say.

The 301 has been developed to adapt to all conditions of use, even in extremely hot countries, such as Bahrain.

A wide range of safety equipment is available including electronic stability programme, anti-lock braking system, up to four airbags, emergency braking assistance and ISOFIX (the international standard for attachment points for child safety seats in passenger cars).

In the same way, the range of latest generation petrol engines is perfectly suited to the expectations of the target markets in the Middle East, with power values ranging from 72bhp to 115bhp and manual, piloted or automatic gearboxes.

Under the bonnet there is a choice of a 1.2-litre VTi with manual or piloted gearbox or a 1.6-litre VTi 85kW with manual or automatic gearbox.

The 301 becomes the second vehicle of the Peugeot range, after the 208, to beneft from the new range of 3-cylinder petrol engines.

It incorporates modern comfort equipment such as air conditioning, MP3 audio system with Bluetooth hands-free kit and USB connection, remote opening of the boot and rear parking assistance.

A version of the 1.2 l VTi engine with a piloted gearbox will be added to the range during 2013.

The Peugeot 301 will go on sale later this year in the Middle East, prices will be announced soon.
