Two Bahrain-based telecom companies have partnered up to offer stylish and cost effective smartphones across the kingdom.
Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has signed a deal with Mobitel Communication Bahrain, a regional player for IT and telecom solutions in the Middle East and Pakistan, to distribute its upcoming products in a number of retail outlets starting from May 20.
This move follows Huawei’s 2013 ‘Make it Possible’ initiative, which aims to make the brand a top consumer device worldwide.
Adeel Malik, founder and managing director of Mobitel Communication, said: “We are delighted to be working with Huawei to serve the nation by introducing its latest technology to the tech-savvy consumers in Bahrain.
“Tying Mobitel Communication and Huawei is the definition of synergy when two of the country’s respected organisations join forces to add value for their customers.”
Yaseen Mamdani, Mobitel Communication’s executive director, added: “We’re thrilled by Huawei’s ‘Make It Possible’ vision. The strength of Mobitel Communication’s distribution channel and reach to the micro level make us an ideal partner for a global company like Huawei and its global smartphone brand.”
The companies marked their collaboration with a glitzy event at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa’s Al Khayma Tent where media and invited guests were introduced to the new smartphone line, then treated to an engaging dance routine and a fashion show.
Achraf Fawakherji, vice president of Huawei Middle East, said: “Partnering with a strong network like Mobitel Communication kicks off another exciting journey for Huawei in Bahrain as we continue to strengthen our presence in the kingdom while offering local consumers more opportunities to enjoy unparalleled mobile communication experiences.
“Instead of holding a regular press conference we wanted to launch the smartphones with a bang to make them stand out from the competition.”
As guests took their seats, the lights dimmed and the stage glowed in Huawei’s corporate colours of black and shades of red. Two giant screens were placed along either side of a sleek, black catwalk where models later displayed the product range.
Videos played on the big screens introducing Huawei’s main ‘Ascend’ smartphone line that spans four different product series including a Youth, Gold, Platinum and Diamond class. Each offers special features and packages which aim to provide ‘something for everyone’.
Later, dancer Saleh Abdul Majeed, AKA Lil s, thrilled the crowd with his routine dressed in black and red.
As he pop-locked his way off the stage, models took to the catwalk for a sizzling smartphone parade. The show ended with a dinner and lucky guests were awarded Huawei phones in a quiz session.
Guests were also able to purchase Huawei products from a consumer stand at the venue.
