MEMBERS of the Dilmun Club are enjoying the fruits of a BD30,000 investment in facilities with the opening of a unique screened poolside bar which can be opened up into an entertainment stage.
During the summer holidays the popular Candles Restaurant, Bull’s Head British-style pub and the Stella Sports Bar have enjoyed makeovers too, with new flooring and furniture installed.
But the top talking point is the prize new pool facility after The Dilly teamed up with Gulf Brands International to enhance the ‘family-friendly area’ and also provide a multi-purpose stage for small visiting acts to perform.
Mark Rowe, general manager of the Dilmun Club, said: “It’s making an enormous difference already. The feedback has been fabulous from members who can enjoy watching big-screen action or simply lounge around in complete comfort by the pool in a shaded, cool area that can be opened up when the need arises.”
Natural solid wood trimmings and bar add a touch of class to the surroundings and its clever screening produces a one-way mirror image effect so that people inside can still enjoy the poolside ambience without having to soak up the sun.
Further refurbishments will follow at Amigos poolside restaurant, a popular venue for children’s birthday parties, which will reopen as a remodelled American 1950s-style diner. It will include a hi-tech Microsoft X-box gaming area for youngsters with an adjoining milkshakes, waffles and ice-slush drinks bar.
Founded in 1974 and fondly known as ‘The Dilly’ the family, sporting and social facility in Saar currently boasts around 4,000 members from 60 countries.
To celebrate the changes the club will be staging one of its biggest concerts in years headlined by Toploader, known for the global hit Dancing in the Moonlight, playing in a show arena erected in its rear paddock on September 27.
