Hassan Al Husseini, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia,

On behalf of the Marina West Home Owners Committee.

The British School of Bahrain is taking part in The Box Appeal campaign 2013 which runs until October 21. It is a charity initiative run by the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel in Bahrain, originally created in 2008 as part of its Responsible Business Action Month.

We aim to make this appeal even more successful; we want it to be bigger and better than ever before. BSB senior students are encouraged to collect a box from the Year 12/13 Charity Committee, headed by May Husain, and fill it with essential items such as T-shirts, caps, razors, deodorants, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

These boxes will then be distributed to those most in need across Bahrain including families, children and poor expatriate labourers.

The initiative is also part of the British School of Bahrain’s responsible citizenship education policy, and it is about enabling young people to take responsibility for their own lives and their communities.

We want the BSB to not simply teach citizenship but to give opportunities for our students to demonstrate it through a way in which they can interact in our local community.

Khalil Ahmed, BSB Business Studies teacher.
