Alpha Fire Services has been directing its attention towards eco-friendly fire retardants which it says helps reduce property damage.
Recently, the company introduced ‘water mist’ technology to help fight fires, which reduces property damage when compared to a traditional water sprinkler system as water consumption is around 50 per cent to 90 per cent less.
Quite simply the size of the water droplets is so much smaller. The water discharges in the form of a mist or ‘fog’. This quickly gets converted into steam due to the intense heat and flames which cuts off the oxygen supply to the fire as well as cooling it down.
To showcase the effectiveness of this technology, AFS provides a demonstration at its Sitra office.
Representatives of UK-based Crown Fire Protection visit Alpha’s bases to help with demonstrations and have trained technicians to design and install the systems.
