The eerie echoes of ‘Trick or Treat’ will be heard throughout various compounds, hotel functions and house parties this weekend.
Historically Halloween has brought chills and thrills to many worldwide and since October 31 is tomorrow, many last-minute shoppers will be scrambling to find costumes for either themselves or their children.
Whether it’s for an All Hallows’ Eve bash or trotting along with your excited youngsters the goal is to be prepared for this ghoulish event.
I found Belinda Border, an expat from South Africa in Bloom-N-Fantasy last week and she reminisced about the times she has rushed about with her boys on Halloween.
Now she is searching for herself amongst the spooky fare to find a ‘boo-tiful’ outfit for her birthday, which happens to be celebrated on the same day.
Her close friend has arranged for a special birthday/Halloween party, hence Belinda’s visit to the shop to find her own picks rather than have an outfit chosen for her!
* Bloom N Fantasy – 17580393 – Seef Mall They have costumes ranging from as low as BD12 up to BD22 depending on quality and style. They have all sorts of children’s costumes like Glitter Witch for girls and Scooby Doo for the boys. Women could dress as a Greek Goddess, a Royal Vampire or even a Punk Ballerina. For men there are costumes like Lab Coat Doctor or Caribbean Pirate. There are very affordable wigs, makeup and accessories and if you’re throwing a party they have that stuff too.
* Geant – 17558181 – Bahrain Mall During my regular visit to Geant I was bewitched by the spook-tactular display dedicated solely to Halloween. You name it, they had it – party supplies, werewolf masks, pitch-forks, Jack ’o’ lanterns and costumes for all ages and for prices that will not scare you. I found wigs, accessories and an amazing selection of decorations for the outside of your home in order to increase the scare factor.
* Party Daze – 17825523 – Adliya Party Daze has a remarkable selection and some really great ideas. Men can dress as the King of Pop, Zombie, Templar Knight, Zombie Doctor or even Woody from Toy Story, although I’m not sure if he’s what nightmares are made of.
If you don’t want to go ‘full costume’ they have kits with feline masks that come with a choker and tail.
There is a section dedicated just to masks from glittery to flat out creepy. Women can find costumes such as Pirate Queen, Aphrodite, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Groovy 60s or Happening Hippie, to name just a few.
Girls can dress as Plum Pixie, a pumpkin or Pretty Witch that comes with a shirt that lights-up. The store manager mentioned that for girls the witch was the most popular costume this year. Boys can find Superman, cowboy and ninjas. The most popular Joker costume has unfortunately sold out.
Other deals I’m privy to: * Party Mania Budaiya – 17660515. They have a whole selection of costumes and party supplies for Halloween.
