More than 80 developers attended Microsoft Bahrain’s two-day App Academy workshop at AMA International University.
The session aimed to give developers the skills needed for better career opportunities.

“We are delighted by the enthusiasm and the number of participants who attended the two-day intensive hands-on workshop using Microsoft Windows 8.1 platform and development tools,” said Tareq Hijazi, regional country manager for Microsoft Bahrain and Oman.

“We at Microsoft realise that innovation is needed to help economies rebuild, and offer developers – professionals and students – a variety of programmes to help them learn new application development skills and differentiate themselves in a competitive job market. The App Academy is just one way that Microsoft is offering developers free tools and resources to build apps.”

Held under the theme ‘Building your first App on Windows 8.1’, the workshop introduced participants to Windows 8.1 and taught them how to develop applications for mobile phones, tablets and desktops. Additionally, design concepts and development using Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 were demonstrated with examples in the class. The programme highlighted all steps from design to implementation, showing Windows 8.1 tools and features as well as how developers can monetise their applications.

Professor Nabil El Kadhi, Provost, AMA International University, said: “Technology is an industry moving in a fast pace toward the future, changing trends – moving from phone to smart phone, from PC to tablet – and creating new ones; in today’s trend ‘mobility and portability’ Microsoft has always been one of the major trend-setters globally.”

All participants of the workshop received an official certificate of attendance from Microsoft.
