Gulf Weekly Glee star believes show will end on high note

Matthew Morrison, who plays Glee’s lovable New Direction coach, thinks screenwriter, director and producer Ryan Murphy will end the show ‘with a bang’.

Morrison hinted at the show’s upcoming conclusion, a topic that is shrouded by mystery since the death of co-star Cory Monteith’s death.

Morison said: “Ryan Murphy always has a very high concept of what he wants to do. I think he’ll probably want to end this show with a bang, with something really special and different.

“I think it’s going to be special no matter what it is and I think it’s going to be something that we haven’t seen before and completely different.”

Murphy had previously stated that his original ending involved Cory Monteith’s character Finn Hudson and Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry.

Murphy said: “The whole last year of the show, which will be next year, was really designed around Rachel and Finn’s story.

“I always knew that. I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was and he was in it. I knew what the last line was; she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do.”

When Monteith died in July 2013, many asked if the show would go on. According to Morrison, although Michele was heartbroken she rallied the entire cast and crew to pay tribute to his character and the man she loved.

The tribute, called the Quarterback was the third episode of the show’s fifth season.

While Monteith’s tribute episode was highly rated, the recent showing, which featured Adam Lambert and covered songs by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and New Direction, was down 46 per cent.

The ratings fell to tie the show’s all-time low, registering only four million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the adult demographic.

Glee airs on OSN on Friday at 7pm on OSN First HD and at 9pm on OSN First+2. It also airs on Saturday at 9am on OSN First HD and 11am on OSN First+2.
