We all know that charitable causes can bring about wonderful transformations in anyone who has a great belief in the charity that they are supporting but even I was shocked at the metamorphosis of one man last week.
It was brought to my attention that a certain fanatical Tottenham Hotspur supporting sales manager of one of the big national motor companies in Bahrain was seen parting with a healthy sized wad of BDs to secure a shirt of Spurs’ great North London rivals Arsenal, duly signed to himself by none other than Arsenal legend John Hartson at one of the many special events arranged for GREAT British Week.
John was in Bahrain to promote and to raise funds for his John Hartson Foundation charity, which supports testicular cancer sufferers, and Help for Heroes, which helps enlisted people who have been injured in service. He was heard to mutter in his wonderfully lyrical Welsh accent on the handing over of said huge sum of cash ‘maybe the people of North London can become united after all’.
