Motorcity, the distributor of Chery in Bahrain, has unveiled the 2014 Tiggo.

The crossover SUV is designed for action and has passed the 3,000,000km road test and 10,000 hour bench test following European and American standards. The extreme temperature and highland test ensure a good start in extreme conditions, particularly useful during Bahrain’s summer.

Bijan Majidi, general manager of Motorcity, said: “The new Tiggo integrates the strengths of SUVs, sedans and MPVs. It adopts the sedan’s energy-saving performance, comfort, and maneuverability; introduces the SUV’s high reliability and all terrain adaptability and finally, it integrates MPV’s flexibility and spaciousness, all combined with superior engine, AC and active safety technology and performance.”

The new Tiggo is equipped with a 2-litre, 4-cylinder engine, which delivers 137bhp, high efficiency, high torque, low fuel consumption, low emission and low maintenance cost, its makers say.

There is plenty of storage space – up to 790-litres – thanks to double folding seats and a luggage board, which can be adjusted up and down.

The steering wheel has audio control buttons, cruise control and a SRS airbag.

In terms of infotainment, the new Tiggo is equipped with a sound system, CD drive, MP3 interface and 4-channel speakers.

The vehicle features, ABS, EBD, parking sensors and large disc brakes, which improve the active and passive safety factors significantly.

Prices start from BD5,500 with five years or 150,000km warranty.
