The Ford Taurus is a sedan with character that aims to deliver a class-leading drive in its segment.
The new model delivers improved fuel economy, more technology, design refinement, improved craftsmanship and enhanced driving dynamics, its makers say.
A choice of engines provide customers with increased fuel economy without compromising on performance.
Taurus was the first car in Ford’s North American line-up to offer the advanced 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine. It combines a direct injection of gasoline and a turbocharger to provide performance comparable to naturally aspirated V6 engines offered by competitors.
The 3.5-litre V6 is offered as standard in SE, SEL and Limited series models.
This Taurus engine benefits from the addition of twin independent variable camshaft timing, achieving better fuel economy, additional horsepower and a reduction in part-throttle emissions compared to the previous standard Taurus V6.
Despite the impressive horsepower, a quiet drive is on the cards thanks to a tuned composite upper and lower manifold, a silent-chain camshaft drive and an acoustic engine cover.
The EcoBoost 3.5-litre V6 – standard equipment in the high-performance Taurus SHO – is Ford’s most powerful EcoBoost offering, delivering 365bhp.
Combining direct injection and a pair of turbochargers, the V6 EcoBoost engine avoids lag by employing impellers that spool up quickly for swift response.
The Taurus boasts an array of class-leading technologies including SYNC with MyFord Touch, which replaces many traditional buttons, knobs and gauges with clear, LCD screens and steering wheel-mounted five-way toggles.
Taurus Limited and Taurus SHO add Ford’s Lane-Keeping System, which helps notify the driver if he or she is veering from the road. This feature is bundled with Ford’s active park assist technology, making life simpler and more convenient for customers.
Prices start from BD10,000.
