I hope everyone took the opportunity to go and watch the fabulous Lorenzo at the Mara’ee this week; it was certainly a show-stopper. Prior to his performance were appearances by the fantastic cowboy contingency of Bahrain, who showcased their skills with a mixture of games and races.
Called The Flying Frenchman Lorenzo certainly did just that, making his entrance astride the back of two of his horses.
The performance initially had six horses in the arena, though, through the show another six joined him. They performed feats of immense complexity and all without a single stitch of tack in sight, in perfect formation they completed intricate formations simply listening to his voice.
The horses performed alongside each other perfectly, they met up in pairs and followed each other knowing exactly where to go and what to do. They jumped, they stopped, changed direction, galloped and walked in harmony, even lying down on command.
The performance was truly amazing.
Apparently, Lorenzo perfects his routines on the beach near his hometown of Saintes Maries de la Mer in southern France and it takes three years to train a horse to jump with him standing on its back.
The horses love the interaction, games and the sound of his voice.
Thanks must go to the organisers of the Mara’ee for allowing us the priviledge of being able to witness first-hand the magic of Lorenzo.
* Also in Bahrain this week with her own form of magic is Genevive Amy Joyce, who brings along her talents of Equine Manual Therapy.
Gen has extensive experience in dealing with ‘problem’ horses and those with behavioural problems.
Osteopathy views the body as a whole and recognises that all the systems are inter-related; gentle techniques are used to relieve restriction, maintain range of movement in joints and improve blood supply whilst removing points of pain and discomfort.
The treatment isn’t painful for the horse and most find it very relaxing. To book an appointment with Gen who is only here for a week, call Jerri Taylor on 33309972.
