Tamkeen’s Mashroo3i Youth Business Plan competition will be held from until Friday at the Bahrain City Centre from 10am to 10pm. Teams will showcase their business prototypes to judges in an exhibition. Judges will rate each business prototype and team on the idea, innovation, uniqueness and strength of project management. Coral Bay will come alive this weekend with groovy tunes and electric sounds as indie local and international acts take to the stage. The two-day Museland Music Festival, held on Friday and Saturday in Manama, will showcase Bahrain’s talented artists as well as bands from across the region performing a range of genres from acoustic pop rock to alternative to folk and even a taste of soulful blues. The event is dedicated to independent music from Bahrain and the region with the aim of discovering, developing and launching bands from Bahrain as well as helping them turn their passion into a profession. It is also being held in conjunction with the American Bahrain Friendship Week, organised by the US Embassy in Manama, a week-long program featuring various cultural activities. The first day will feature a line-up of 12 bands and performers on the first day including US power-pop outfit Dylan Sires & Neighbours pictured above, Dubai-based Tim Hassall, Lebanese alt-rock outfit Lazzy Lung and American indie-folk singer and songwriter Mary Lou Lord. Musicians hailing from Bahrain will include rock-blues trio The Relocators, folk-pop band The Accidentals, alternative rocker Hani Malik, as well as Daniel Cochran & the Belly of Paris, will entertain the crowds. Other acts will include a number of local stand-up comedians as well as music-related short films and documentaries screened throughout the day. The second day is being dedicated for a series of panel discussions, workshops and talks on the music industry held at Albareh Art Gallery. The Friday fun will kick-off at 3pm and tickets to the shows are BD4. The sessions on Saturday will start from 10am and are geared towards young and upcoming musicians and people working in the entertainment field. The Chinese Culture Week, organised in cooperation with the Chinese Embassy, will feature a Silk Road Exhibition until Saturday.
