Make practice constructive

As the old saying goes: ‘practice makes perfect’. The greatest players in the game are able to accept that golf is an imperfect sport and that one can only rehearse to the best of their ability and then try 100 per cent on the course.
I believe practice makes permanent, so if you want to achieve the best results for your golf game, start training the right way for you!
A routine that I follow and recommend to my students is:
l Give yourself at least 10 minutes before your session to warm up and perform golf related stretches.
l Golf is a target sport, so pick a specific target for the club you are going to use to ensure good feedback.
l During the round you will almost certainly use all the clubs in your bag. Start your practice with a high number club and then hit five balls, next move down through the numbers hitting five balls with each until you reach your driver. (If you are trying to correct a fault, stick with a club that you are comfortable with for the session).
l Very rarely will you hit two shots in a row on the course with the same number. To prepare yourself you can either hit at random targets with a different club each time or why not picture each hole on the course and imagine the club you would use as you play each hole.
l On every shot go through your pre-shot routine. This will prepare you for pressure situations on the course and is more realistic to the speed at which the game is played.
l Remember to finish off with some stretches. Also stay hydrated and nourished before, during and after your practice session.
