Gulf Weekly Stage set for finale

WITH only two rounds of matches to go, the GulfWeekly/ Citroen Ladies League title race looks set to go down to the last day of the season.

Current leaders Venus continued their winning ways when they took on Seef Dental and registered a convincing 5-0 win.

Goals came from Tala Bashimi, Fatima Mahmood, plus a wonder strike from Lamees Al Saqqa, who has made a habit of scoring with long range strikes this season, and a brace from the dependable Zain Al Khalifa.

Chasing Venus, the Arsenal Ladies beat Joga TFA 5-1, with goals from Wed Al Jowder (2), Katie Eames (2), and Nada Al Saeed, with a solid and excellently taken reply from Alaa Al Dirazi.

Second-placed Arsenal Ladies played clubmates the Gunners, and raced to a five-goal half-time lead through Rayeh Al Khalifa, Darya Vyshegorodskaya, Phoebe License, Ella Hucklave and Eleni Tsappis. In the second half, the Gunners battled hard but conceded two more through Lauren Moir and Latifa Al Khalifa.

This week, the Arsenal U21s will be trying to consolidate their third place and help the Arsenal Ladies by beating Venus. Seef will take on Joga TFA and the Arsenal Ladies clash with the Gunners.
