BUSY cab drivers carrying passengers to and from three Bahrain hotels will receive a special Ramadan gift today.

During the hour of Iftar, all cab drivers who drive through the main entrances of Bahrain City Centre’s The Westin and Le Meridien hotels, which recently took over the mall’s two towers from the Kempinski, and the nearby Sheraton at Moda Mall, will receive Iftar packs to break their fast.

The ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative – coordinated by the hotels’ parent company Starwood Hotels & Resorts – has been running since 2010 and has since become an annual tradition for many cab drivers throughout the region.

“This represents the spirit of Ramadan and we are extremely proud of our hotels’ teams who come together for this initiative and go that extra step to give back to the community,” said Guido de Wilde, senior vice president and regional director, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Middle East.

“This initiative is our way of showing appreciation to the cab drivers who support our hotels throughout the year by providing transportation services to our guests.”

Catering teams at each hotel were today busy preparing the Iftar packs, which will include a diverse selection of food and beverage items. Associates from across various departments within the hotels, including catering, administration and guest services, have joined forces on the ‘Iftar for Cabs’ project.
