Dina Haikel, the newly-appointed general manager of the Capital Club Bahrain, aims to ensure the private business club’s evolution and success with a range of exciting new initiatives.
Dina has taken over from Shahnaz Pakravan and, in her new role, will oversee all aspects of the two-storey club, located at Bahrain Financial Harbour.
The 53-year-old said: “It is a great challenge, which I enjoy thoroughly, and I am very excited to be part of such a forward-thinking establishment. The team in Bahrain is energetic and supportive and boasts diverse experience that will guide us through the next phases of Capital Club’s journey.
“The club has an incredible reputation for achieving the highest levels of member and guest satisfaction and I look forward to continuing its evolution and success.”
The British mother-of-three believes her eye for detail coupled with knowledge of Bahrain and the Gulf region will be beneficial to the growth of the club.
She is a seasoned veteran within finance, human resources, hospitality and events management, and has worked in senior positions around the world.
Prior to her latest role, she has served as deputy general manager, senior operations manager and head of H&R and administration for a wealth of globally-recognised institutions, such as HSBC, TAIB Bank, Robeco Institutional Asset Management and CCH Investment Consultants.
Dina said: “I have worked with several multi-nationals, coupled with my vast experience in finance, human resources, events management and hospitality; all these elements are essential to the vision we have in place for Capital Club Bahrain.”
She joined the club in March with the aim of steering it towards the next phase of its growth by launching a series of new initiatives and services to keep members engaged and to attract new high-rollers.
“We aim to introduce a range of networking events such as open panel discussions and business forums along with entertaining events such as a monthly quiz night and cinema nights,” she explained.
“Our second focus will be to develop tailor-made events for our members such as private dinners and luncheons. Finally, we will also focus our efforts in developing the portfolio of benefits we offer members such as exclusive rates to airlines, hotels and other complimentary services.”
Dina, who is fluent in English and Arabic, earned her academic credentials in International Affairs at Beirut University College, and in Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad.
The Capital Club occupies the 51st and 52nd floors of the financial harbour’s East Tower and one of its claims to fame is that it features spectacular panoramic views overlooking the city and the Arabian Gulf, particularly from the gents restroom.
The club features a variety of dining options and several private venues for members to host their own business or social functions.
It is one of three private clubs under the management of Signature Clubs International, and describes itself as a ‘distinguished sanctuary where senior individuals and corporate leaders within the regional business community meet to network, entertain, work, and socialise’ in an environment of exclusivity, comfort and style.
It will not publicly reveal the cost of membership only to say it has attracted more than 800 ‘distinct individuals’ of over 30 nationalities.
In addition to its board of governors, a membership committee is in place to assist in nominating and approving newly-proposed individuals tasked with ‘protecting the integrity and calibre’ of membership.
