Gulf Weekly Contest put off as rain plays spoilsport

Morning players in Awali Golf Club’s Schlumberger Trophy competition scheduled for last Friday awoke to clear blue skies and great playing conditions.

Alas, it was not to last, as dark clouds could be seen in the distance, advancing with strong winds. The rain finally arrived mid-morning and the competition was abandoned.

But not all was lost, and with the decision made to postpone the Schlumberger Trophy to a later date, the rest of the day’s proceedings continued.

Members and friends returned in the evening, hosted by Gulf Brands International, for dinner.

Captain Abdul Elah Fakhroo announced the imminent departure of sponsorship member, Ziggy Trzebinski, who is moving to work in the UK. Captain Fakhroo thanked him for his efforts and the results achieved in his time on the committee and presented Trzebinski with a commemorative plaque.

The evening ended with a ‘disco’ hosted by Auto-DJ!
