Teenager Eid Adel Naseeb won the inaugural Crown Worldwide Stableford competition with 46 points, well clear of the rest of the field, at Awali Golf Club last Friday.
Of particular note was Eid’s performance on the back-nine: scoring a gross-37 (8-under a playing handicap of 20).
His winner’s spoils were accompanied by a 5-shot handicap cut in an attempt to allow some other players to make it to the winners’ podium.
In the distance, Ali Danesh claimed the runner-up position on 38 with Joan Martin in third place, also on 38 but losing on countback.
Nicky Park led the next three players home all with 37, Sultan Ahmed in fifth and Abdulrahman Abdulwahed in sixth place.
Andy McInnes, general manager of Crown Worldwide’s Bahrain office, gave away the prizes.
Prior to the announcement of the results, immediate past Captain Steve Brown announced the donation of charitable funds raised at last season’s Bahrain Open Championship to the chosen causes. This was shared between Bahrain Mobility International and the RIA School for special-needs children, with Dreena Rogers and Christine Gordon, respectively, collecting the donations on behalf of the two charities.
