MORE than 60 cars and 10 motorbikes last week took part in the Test and Tune at the Bahrain International Circuit.
The ‘test and tune’ event is held through out the year and acts as a pre-qualification session for the participants of the Chevrolet backed National Drag Racing Championship.
“We at the BIC extend our support to all sorts of motorsports. It gives us a great pleasure to host the drag races at the circuit and allow young talents to develop,” said Director of PR and Governmental Affairs, Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Tomorrow the BIC will host the Chevrolet Shoot Out, which promises to be an epic night of automotive entertainment where all are welcome to join in. Starting from 6:00pm there are two main activities will be the centre point of this social gathering: Burn Out and the Race Against the Clock.
The Chevrolet Shoot Out will be held on the familiar and loved International-standard drag strip, for which the Oasis Complex Grandstand will provide the perfect view to see all of the evening’s action. Uniquely the spectators will be just as involved as the competitors as not only will they be cheering but they will also be judging.
The Burn Out comprises of two cars up against each other and the grandstand jury. The aim is to perform the most spectacular burnout - lighting up the tyres and creating the most impressive amount of smoke and a stench of burning rubber that reaches from the BIC to Manama.
The Race Against the Clock is a sprint down the drag strip, where the participant sets his or her own time for which to either match or beat. So you think you can do the strip in nine seconds - put yourself up against the clock.
Any spectator can enter for BD2. The competitors need a helmet and a car equipped with suitable tyres. The Spectators need a voice ready to cheer and judge. No competition will be complete without prizes and the Chevrolet Shootout is sure not to disappoint - prizes will be for the following:
■ Best Reaction Time
■ Burn Out
■ Closest Dial-In
A break between each event will be filled with stunt bike action from recognized Chevrolet drivers to keep your heart rate up and the burning pace alive.
