Riffa Golf Club’s ladies section took on the ladies from Awali Golf Club in a closely fought contest with 9 holes played at Riffa followed by another 9 at Awali.
The Riffa ladies were dominant on their home turf and won the first half of the contest by 5 ? points to Awali’s 1 ? points. However, the Awali ladies came into their own back at their home club, beating Riffa by the same margin, 5 ? points to 1 ? points, giving an overall score of 7 points per team.
Awali member Hilary Picton won the nearest the pin side contest on the 4th hole at Riffa while Riffa member Su Jeong Lee came nearest the pin on hole 14 at Awali.
“We had a fantastic day despite the overcast weather,” said Riffa lady captain Emma Boyd. “This is only the second time we have played a competition split between Riffa and Awali and it really does make for some very interesting golf, playing first off grass and then off sand. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Awali ladies section for very generously providing a delicious lunch for all the competitors after the match.”
