International reggae rapper and singer Sean Paul is putting his fans first as he reaches out to his followers in Bahrain to find out what tunes they would like to hear him perform.
The entertainer is one of the most globally-successful Jamaican dancehall artists and producers and his hits include Infiltrate and Deport Them.
On Friday, April 17, he will take to the stage at Elite Crystal hotel’s KLUB360º in Juffair.
The 42-year-old Grammy award-winner, said: “I’m excited to be in Bahrain, to meet the people and explore the food, but most importantly, to blaze the stage for all my fans.
“They can expect to see me delivering a high-energy performance. I would love to know what songs the fans want to see me perform so please hit me up on Facebook@Sean Paul.”
In the meantime, he is continuing to promote the latest project from his Dutty Rock Label called Full Speed Riddim among other things.
He said: “Over the years, I would say my music has developed into being an international interpretation of dancehall. With bringing in writers and producers from other musical genres, I’ve been able to get their interpretations of dancehall and present it to the world.
“I recently did a collaboration with Trinidadian artist Machel Montano for a single called 1 Wine and also Come On To Me with Major Lazer.
“My favourite collaboration was with Rihanna for the Break It Off single, because she came to Jamaica to do it. I had the opportunity to showcase my island and more of my culture which I don’t usually get the chance to do so that collaboration definitely stands out as my favourite. I have no favourite albums. I love them all equally; my songs are my children.”
Sean has always had a passion for creating dubs and music. He said: “I am inspired by everything around me; art, people, dancing, nature, and also my fans. They inspire me to keep going.”
He graduated with a degree in Hotel Management in Jamaica’s College of Arts, Science and Technology and his musical journey only started when he met Third World, a renowned Jamaican reggae band. He teamed up with them to create his own demo after the group was impressed with his skills.
His album Dutty Rock in 2002 sold nearly six million copies worldwide. Not only certified Platinum in both the US and the UK, the album nabbed Paul three nominations at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards in 2004 for Best Male Rap Solo Performance, Best New Artist and Best Reggae Album.
Winning the Best Reggae Album Award established him as a dancehall master and since then his career has skyrocketed with albums such as The Trinity, Imperial Blaze and Tomahawk Technique.
