A new business publication that aims to foster trade between Bahrain and the Philippines is to be launched later this year.

The quarterly magazine will be published by the Philippines Business Council - Bahrain on behalf of the Philippines embassy in the kingdom.

Philippine Ambassador Eduardo Maglaya said the new magazine was part of a drive to further boost trade between the Philippines and the Gulf.

"This is a very special project, and we hope that it will further facilitate trade between the two regions," he said.

Published in English, the all-colour glossy magazine will include news and business features, as well as sections on art, entertainment, sports and culture.

Jose Dela Rosa Burgos, Minister and Consul General at the embassy, said the purpose of the magazine was to 'disseminate news more effectively' to businesspeople in the Philippines and the Gulf.

Burgos added that the focus would be on news that would further spur business and trade between the Philippines and Bahrain in particular and the rest of the Gulf in general. "We need more coverage on our trade missions as well as follow-up stories highlighting any successes and contracts won. This magazine will serve as a platform for such key developments," he said.

A print run of 2,000 copies will be selectively distributed to businesspeople, embassies, chambers of commerce and the companies involved in trade between the Philippines and the Gulf.

The A4-format magazine, which will also have advertising support, will be published every three months.

A suitable title for the publication will be chosen from a shortlist, while design, production and content-sourcing are already under way. The first issue is expected to hit the stands by November.
