THE Toyota Camry has been redesigned for 2016 and the marque is confident it will add a new chapter in the illustrious history of the world’s most popular mid-size sedan.
 
The model was officially launched at a press conference attended by dealer Ebrahim K. Kanoo’s senior management and Toyota officials at its showroom in Sitra.

Chief engineer Masato Katsumata says the new-look Camry was developed for customers who want a car with more emotional styling and greater driving enjoyment. “We wanted to produce a Camry that appeals to its traditional customers as well as to younger buyers,” he said.

As a result, the sedan is, its designers say, the ‘boldest-looking’ Camry ever. “The car is more expressive, more athletic and more confident,” he added.

Takayuki Yoshitsugu, Toyota’s chief representative, Middle East and North Africa Representative Office, said: “The new Toyota Camry blends an evolution of the car’s values – such as comfort, efficiency, reliability and safety – with a more appealing design and engaging driving experience.

The 2016 Camry is offered in four variants – the GL, GLX, SE, and the newly-added sportier grade XSE.

An aggressive-looking front bumper and grille and side character lines give it a more expressive style. In profile, a pronounced body line starts from the Camry’s muscular front fender and spans across the doors and rear quarter panel, conveying a sense of motion.

Sleek new headlamps are the eyes in a new Camry face that makes an immediate impression. The 2016 model Camry XSE offers LED low and high beams with front turn signal indicators and LED DRLs integrated for an elegant appearance with a sleek centre console stack with a 4.2-inch TFT-screen. The model offers 17-inch wheels and an available dual exhaust signals impressive performance.

Sit inside the 2016 Camry and you will very quickly see, and feel, the difference. Genuine leather-trimmed surfaces are situated throughout the cabin, and trim elements are finished in wood-grain-style accents and satin chrome. The front seatback height and the cushion shape have been modified. Adding to class-leading comfort and utility quotient of the new Camry, it includes a 6-speaker audio system.

If the new Camry looks like a stunner, it drives like a dream. The car features a new 2.5ltr four-cylinder engine that produces 181hp and 235Nm of torque, allowing it to deliver best-in-class engine performance and quietness.

The engine employs Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (Dual VVT-i). A six-speed automatic transmission is complemented by an innovative flex-start control contributing to excellent fuel economy.
